What are Neurotoxins?

Neurotoxins are an injectable treatment that is a safe and effective way to look more rested and refreshed with little or no downtime. Neurotoxin is one of the most popular aesthetic options for people who want to minimize facial lines in the forehead, between the brows, or around the eyes. At Precision the neurotoxins we offer are Botox, Dysport and Xeomin

What are neurotoxins and how do they work?

Botulinum neurotoxin is a very complex substance produced by bacteria. Yes we know the words “Botulinum Neurotoxin” sound scary but they are actually very safe and very effective. Neurotoxin attaches itself exclusively to nerve cells that activate the muscular system or specific glands – effectively and accurately blocking an overactive muscle or gland. The effect is temporary, so that repetition of the injection is typically necessary.

Are there any risks?

  • Some clients experience headaches for a few hours post injection.
  • Potential bruising, local numbness, and rash at injection site
  • Although rare, infection in the injected area is possible. Signs of infection may include redness and tenderness in the infected area and fever. Should an infection develop, antibiotics may be necessary.
  • Allergic reaction (rare)
  • Flu-like symptoms with mild fever, back pain
  • Respiratory problems such as bronchitis or sinusitis, nausea, dizziness, and tightness or irritation of the skin

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid herbal supplements such as Ginkgo, green tea, and anti-inflammatories of any kind for 2 weeks before and following treatment to limit bruising
If you plan to workout, do so before your appointment.

Is there any post care?

  • For the first 5-6 hours following Botox/Dysport/Xeomin, remain upright and periodically perform facial movements in the areas of the injections in order to work the Botox/Dysport/Xeomin into the muscle- e.g. smile, squint, etc.
  • Do not participate in activities that include heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, or straining for 2-3 hours
  • Do not rub, touch, or manipulate injection sites for 6 hours
  • Avoid irritating products for 24 hours after injection
  • Use arnica to help diminish bruising
  • Follow up appointment in 10-14 days to assess results for subsequent treatments, particularly if you are a new client.

Will there be any downtime?

Most people have lightly swollen pink bumps at injection sites for a few hours post treatment.

Does it hurt?

Neurotoxin is injected with a very small 31G needle. Clients may experience mild discomfort. Topical numbing can be applied per client request.

When will I see results?

It can take up to 2 weeks to see results. Dysport typically activates sooner than Botox and Xeomin.

Will I be able to move my face at all?

Neurotoxin temporarily paralyzes the muscle it is injected into. Some areas of the face may be immobile and some mobile, depending on the muscle injected. This will be discussed with a provider during consultation.
If the upper lip is injected for a “lip flip,” you may not be able to drink through a straw, whistle, or enunciate some words for approximately 2 weeks.

How often do I need to be treated?

Every 3-4 months on average. If injected regularly, results can last longer

Are there any contraindications?

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, neuromuscular disorders

How long does the procedure take?

Including the consult, the appointment takes approximately 30 minutes.

    In October of 2015 I was debating on competing in my second NPC Championship. Even before I decided to do the show I knew for sure who I was going to call to be my prep coach and handle my diet and workouts. That would be Jamie Speiser at Precision Fitness and Spa. I t was a little over 3 years since my first competition and I have always followed Jamie on social media and it was apparent of the success he had with his clients. Every competition picture that got posted had him standing with his athlete with a medal around their neck! There are many things, but one thing that stuck out with Jamie is that he sincerely cares about his clients and wants them to succeed as bad as they want too themselves! In my 4 months of prep I went from 11.6% body fat to just under 4% and I gained several pounds of muscle in the process (And oh by the way, I was 48 years old for this competition and I took 1st place in my masters class!) If I were to do another show; he'd be my Go To coach, no doubt about it!!!

    WOW !! GREAT !! TEAM WORK!!! POSITIVENESS !!!! SUPPORTIVE !!! ENCOURAGEMENT!!! YOU MEAN SOMETHING !!!!! WELL INFORMED!!! LIFE CHANGING !!!! These are just a few words that I experience working with Precision Fitness and SPA each day. Jamie Speiser and his staff are all of these and more and have kept me going through all the struggles and over the hills when the tough times have come. Before starting with Jamie I was the type of person that each day was from the chair to car to chair at work, back to car back to the couch. I was on oxygen at work and home, multiple medications my health and lifestyle was in a fast track to going to a fast end. My weight and condition was the "elephant in the room" that no one wanted to bring up to me as they didn't want to hurt me or my feelings. Then two people who changed my life and asked if I would meet someone that might be able to help me and they introduced me to Jamie Speiser. UNBELIEVABLE DAY FOR ME. HE OPENED THE WORLD BACK TO ME AND GAVE ME BACK MY LIFE. The simple things that people take for granted to be able to sit in a regular chair to watch your granddaughter dance. Be able to walk and play catch, go to the pool to go swimming, able to shovel your own snow and cut your own grass. All lift changing >>>>> I can go on forever about the numbers and the loss in lbs and inches ( which is awesome). The major changes I have experienced is the awareness I have gotten from Jamie and everyone at Precision Fitness and the courage and knowledge of making good healthy decisions at each meal. The challenging work-outs are tough but are adjusted to meet everyone's needs and abilities. They are fun and challenging the staff keep you wanting more and wanting to come back. Jamie Speiser , and the staff at Precision Fitness is a place that everyone can feel at ease. I hope everyone will come and try it for themselves.
